In addition to the placement of page numbers, the Chicago style guide also provides guidelines for their formatting. For example, page numbers should be separated from the text by at least a quarter inch. The font and size of the page numbers should match the rest of the document. It is also important to note that page numbers should be consecutive, starting from the first page of the document, except for the title page and other preliminary pages.
