List The Two Types Of Printers
Impact Printers
When it comes to printing, there are several options available in the market. Printers can be broadly classified into two types based on their printing technology. The two types of printers are impact printers and non-impact printers. Impact printers use a physical mechanism to print characters on the paper, whereas non-impact printers use a non-physical method to print characters.
Impact printers are the older type of printers and are rarely used nowadays. They were widely used in the past for printing documents, receipts, and other types of text. However, they have been largely replaced by non-impact printers due to their slow speed, low print quality, and high noise level.
Non-Impact Printers
Impact printers include dot matrix printers, daisy wheel printers, and line printers. These printers use a print head that strikes an ink ribbon to print characters on the paper. They are commonly used for printing multipart forms, receipts, and other types of documents that require a physical copy.
Non-impact printers, on the other hand, use a non-physical method to print characters. They include inkjet printers, laser printers, and thermal printers. These printers use a combination of ink and paper to print characters and are widely used for printing photos, documents, and other types of text. They are faster, quieter, and produce higher quality prints compared to impact printers.
